HOW TO TREAT HICCUP


Hiccup is a sharp, usually repeated sound made in the throat, that is caused by a sudden movement of the diaphragm and which cannot be controlled.
Hiccups are usually caused by eating too quickly or too much, by an irritation in the stomach or the throat, or feeling nervous or excited. Hiccup can also happen when something irritate the diaphragm.
TREATMENT
The treatment for hiccup is not standardized, there are a great many remedies a fact which indicates that none of them is very good. Nevertheless the spasms should be stopped before the patient is exhausted by them.
The following is a list of things to do which may bring relief:
1. Take a deep breath and hold it as long as possible before exhaling.
2. Drink a large glassful of cold water
3. Breathe into a paper bag
4. Press firmly on the eyeballs with care.
5. Take alumninuin hydroxide or aluminium trisilicate tablets.
6. Chew and swallow some throat lozenges containing nupercaine or some other locals anaesthetic.
7. Take 100 mili grammes of largactil
8. In extreme cases the doctor should be called.
