THE AIR WE BREATHE

We breath about sixteen or eighteen times a minute. The heart beats four times to each breath, exercise and fever increases the rate of breathing.
A person may live several weeks without food and several days without water, but death occurs in a few minutes if one's supply of air is cut off, as happens in case of drowning or suffocation. This shows how vital to life is a constant supply of fresh air.

Oxygen is the essential part of the air that the body must have in order to maintain life and produce heat energy.
The air we breath in contains enough oxygen but the one we breath out contains less, and should not be breathed again
.
Pure air is about 21% oxygen and has only a trace of carbon dioxide. After it leaves the lungs the oxygen content is reduced to 16% and carbon dioxide increases from 0.4% to 4.0% . In a room where the doors and windows are closed, a person can use up all oxygen by breathing the same air over and over again. This will result in dizziness by "air hunger"
A fire of charcoal, wood, oil kept burning in a closed room or electricity generator sets will also use up the oxygen, which results to death asphyxiation, many people have lost their lives in this manner, especially at night while sleeping.
There should be one or more windows in a room and there windows should be large enough to get sufficient fresh air and sunlight. While sleeping curtains should not be hung in front of the windows in such a way as to shut out air.
The air we breath is more important than the food we eat.
